World Oceans Day
World Oceans Day 2021, I was privileged to be invited as an CollaborOCEANS Ambassador to show my 10M Dive the Sydney Opera House Sails. Seeing my 10M Dive beamed across the 'Sails’ was an iconic moment in my lifetime.
As an Olympian and an athlete, I want to use my platform in sport to raise awareness for sustainability for healthy oceans and protection of our beautiful marine life.
My eco-motto is ‘Dive into Clean Oceans,’ the 30 x 30 Challenge epitomises. The aim is to protect at least 30% of our blue planet by 2030 as we strive for a healthy ocean and climate. A healthy ocean is a critical part of the solution to the climate crisis. By supporting ’30 by 30′, we can protect our planet’s life support systems – specifically the interconnected issues of ocean, climate, and biodiversity.
It is the 8th June we celebrate World Oceans Day. A day to inform the public of the impact of human actions on the ocean, develop a worldwide movement of nations caring for our blue planet and our marine life by phasing out single-use plastics. The 30 x 30 Challenge is a chance to empower and unite the world on a project for the sustainable management of our oceans.
